Blueprint requests that either Teachers or School Administrators confirm that they have Parental Consent, so that Blueprint can provide the Services using the concept of School Consent. According to the FTC, under COPPA schools can consent on behalf of parents to the collection of student personal information, so long as the information is only used for educational purposes and no other commercial purposes. Since Blueprint only collects limited student information (in accordance with our Services Privacy Policy), solely to provide the educational services, we accept an acknowledgment from Teachers and/or School Administrators that they can consent on behalf of parents.
At Blueprint we believe in transparency and keeping Parents informed of their Child’s online activity with Blueprint. We allow Teachers and Students to provide Blueprint with a Parent email address. Once Blueprint has received this email address from either the Teacher or Student, Blueprint will email the Parent allowing them to (a) create an account that will be associated with their Child’s account, and (b) review and accept or reject our Terms of Service and Services Privacy Policy. At this stage, Parents will also have the right to opt-out of any data collection by Blueprint on behalf of their child. Basically, if Blueprint receives an email address for a Parent, the Parent will be notified. Parent’s then have complete control over whether or not they wish to withdraw consent of the collection of their child’s data.
Parents may create a Parent Account associated with their Child’s Student Account that will allow them to access the information contributed by their Child. Students and Teachers can both provide a Student’s Parent email address, and upon receiving the Parent email address, Blueprint will email the Parent and provide them with an opportunity to create a Parent Account and to opt out of any data collection from their Child.
No. Blueprint does not sell or share any Child or Student Information, and only requires the information necessary to provide the Child or Student with access to the Blueprint Services. For more information on what information Blueprint collects, why this information is collected, and how this information is used, please review our Services Privacy Policy.
No. Information collected from students (including personal information and information collected automatically) is never used or disclosed for Behaviourally Targeted Marketing or Third-Party Advertising. We also do not place any third-party advertisements in student logged-in areas of the Service.
No Student Information is available to the general public. Only a Student’s Teacher (or other School Representative) and Parent will be able to see the Student’s Information.
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) protects the online privacy of children under the age of 13 and requires Blueprint to obtain Parental Consent or notice (as appropriate) prior (with limited exceptions) to the collection, use and disclosure of that child's personal information. Due to the requirements of COPPA and similar to other cloud-based educational tools, Blueprint requires that schools obtain parental consent if they allow students under the age of 13 to use Blueprint while in the classroom. Teachers may obtain parental consent in what is commonly referred to as "school consent" under COPPA, where teachers have certified that they have directly received parent consent for their child to use Blueprint for education purposes or, alternatively, have acted as the agent of the parent and consented on the parents’ behalf. In order for a student to set up an account on Blueprint, they must first obtain a class code from their teacher.
It’s up to schools to determine 1) if it is their policy to obtain consent from parents or act as the agent of the parent and consent on their behalf and 2) if obtaining consent, how best to use the form, to fill it with their own contact information and information about the services they enable, and to share it along with the resources for parents below. For more information on "school consent" under COPPA, please see the FTC's FAQ Section
Share the resources below, which explain Blueprint’s services and our commitments to privacy and security, with parents. This information will help parents and schools to make informed choices about the technology their students use in the classroom.
NOTE: Schools in different countries and communities have different regulations and approaches, and Blueprint cannot advise you on compliance with the laws applicable to your school. You should obtain any parental consent that may be required by your school (including for COPPA and FERPA) in a manner that complies with the laws of your jurisdiction.
"I have had the privilege of implementing the Blueprint program in my 6th grade classroom, and the results have been both positive and exhilarating. The impact on my students has been profound. They have shown significant improvement in their mental development, particularly in understanding and applying the concepts of fixed and growth mindsets. This shift has led to noticeable positive thinking outcomes, especially in situations where self-confidence was previously hindered by shyness."
"I appreciate the opportunity to express myself without feeling embarrassed or judged in front of the class."
"The Blueprint program is instrumental in helping pre-teens and early teens to acquire the socio-personal skills necessary for successful matriculation through school and through life. In particular, I like how the lessons include examples of both young adults their age and adults who share their learned experiences. The examples and experiences shared are real-life and authentic. Pain-points are explored and explained-- with strategies for success. Then, students are asked to privately journal their thoughts and emotions. That is key. I like that my students are allowed personal reflection, as it prompts them to connect, relate, and explore."
"The animations are the best quality."
“I don’t like it – I LOVE IT. The motivational speaking is wonderful and relatable to people like me. And there are more options to choose from so you’re not required to do some particular quiz, question, video, etc. And CURRENCY?!”
"I like how it teaches a valuable lesson, while having a goal set for you to get more and more Sparks."
“My students have been using Blueprint for the past month and a half and I have seen firsthand how excited they are about it. The stories and lessons on the platform are truly inspirational, and I have been able to use them as a springboard for discussions and plenaries in my classroom.”

“The kids are absolutely loving it!”
“It helps you think about the bad times but you think how to improve it the next day and how you can do it better and make your life a bigger world.”
“I like it because there is a score system and I'm competitive so it gets me more interested.”
“The way it uses real people… the stories are real not invented – you can relate to them”
